Women-only parks in Jeddah soon

The Jeddah municipality is giving final touches to two women-exclusive public parks in the city, Makkah Arabic daily reported on Tuesday.

One of these two parks will be opened near the Falak (astronomical) square while the second will be at Prince Fawaz housing district in south Jeddah.
Informed sources said the two public parks will be inaugurated in the coming few months.

They said the two parks will have recreational facilities and walkways.
According to the sources, the two parks will be totally managed by the municipality.

They said the parks form part of the municipality’s future projects to provide women their own exclusive recreational areas.

The municipality has a number of public parks in various parts of Jeddah which can be used by both men and women.

The sources said the municipality is currently constructing 10 pavements in various parts of the city to encourage the habit of walking.

The walkways in Al-Samir district in east Jeddah is 1.5-km long and 12-meter wide, in Al-Nakheel neighborhood is 1.5-km long and 32-meter wide, in Al-Safa district in north Jeddah is 1.9-km long and five-meter wide and in Prince Fawaz housing district is 4.5-km long and 10-meter wide.
