Upgrade to Delo® FleetPRO™ Multigrade API CH-4 diesel engine oil

Stay Ahead with ESMA new regulation

The Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) and Gulf Standards Organization (GSO) have implemented new regulations relating to the minimum requirements of the approved standards for lubricating oils for internal combustion engines (GSO 1785: 2013), across the Gulf region.

The service categories of API CG-4, CF-4 and CF are no longer approved for sale in the UAE and are no longer listed in the new GSO regulation. Other countries including Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have also implemented the same minimum standards.

ESMA is supporting this green initiative – environmental protection, health and safety and protection of consumer rights – through issuance of technical regulations and standards in the field of lubricating oils for internal combustion. ESMA also monitors the implementation of these regulations. These efforts are in line with ESMA’s mission to enhance the quality of life and sustainable development in supporting the economy of UAE.

Chevron Al Khalij markets a wide range of Caltex-Delo® branded lubricants across the Middle East, and has been a first mover in meeting the new standards mandated by ESMA, by introducing Caltex Delo FleetPRO SAE 15W-40 and Delo FleetPRO SAE 20W-50, both API CH-4 licensed, which will replace the previous Caltex Delo Silver SAE 40 & 50 which were API CF specifications, and as such, continues to deliver value to customers.

This upgrade involves not only moving from API CF (1994) to API CH-4 (1998) but also moving from a monograde to a multigrade engine oil. Multigrade engine oils are specifically formulated for longer engine durability and extended oil drain interval; this new generation of multigrade diesel engine oil provides better pumpability and lower wear & tear inside the engine – customers can typically double their oil drains resulting in less wastage into the environment.

According to Adriaan J. de Kok – Area Business Manager, Gulf and Middle East, for Chevron Al Khalij,“Caltex Delo in the Gulf and Middle East is proud to have been providing outstanding quality and meeting the demanding needs of diesel engine oils for over 80 years. Many customers in the region are confronted with challenging situations such as high operating temperatures, owning fleets of variant ages, operating in high-sulphur and ultra-low sulphur environments. The introduction of Caltex Delo® FleetPRO SAE 15W-40 and SAE 20W-50 addresses these challenges, while meeting the latest GSO regulations and standards aligning with the UAE green initiative”.

Caltex Delo FleetPRO  provides good low temperature startability and high temperature protection; helps prevent corrosion and maintain oil drain interval and provides good wear protection; deposit control and soot dispersancy performance.

ESMA appeals to all manufacturers of lubricating oils for internal combustion engines to implement the new requirements and standards.

Rashid Al Ameeri - General Manager, EPPCO Lubricants said, “We are committed to offering high quality products and services to our customers that ensure their investments in their vehicles are protected. Millions have trusted Caltex Delo Diesel engine oil for more than 80 years. This is a product with a proud heritage like our joint venture within the UAE.”
