Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi concludes the fifth edition of its Astrolabe Career Forum activities

Under the theme “Explore, connect and shape your professional future” and to foster creative and innovative thinking among its students, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi organized the fifth edition of its Astrolabe Career Forum activities at the university’s campus in Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi. This three-day event, Sorbonne Abu Dhabi welcomed around 50 companies and features interactive presentations, round-tables, networking events, employer’s panels and workshops.

 

The Astrolabe Career Forum targets Sorbonne Abu Dhabi’s students and alumni and is designed to help them engage with industry leaders and learn more about the best job search strategies in the UAE. In addition, the Forum gives students an opportunity to face-to-face interact with industry players in a huge number of sectors: aviation, advisory services, business, defense, energy, environment, hospitality culture, luxury retail, law, NGOs… from private and public sectors.

 

Prof. Fouache, Vice Chancellor at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi said: “Our Astrolabe career forum reflects our commitment to provide students and graduates with the necessary career guidance through meeting renowned experts from various backgrounds. This yearly event brings together a large number of companies from different sectors who are keen to raise awareness about the latest market trends and highlight the importance of creativity and innovation in the workplace. We look forward to more successful events like this forum that highlight the importance of exchanging knowledge, learning new skills and engaging in interactive discussions”.

Eisa Al Raeesi, Head of Student Affairs at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi said: “Astrolabe Career Forum is an important opportunity for our students to meet the employers who are major stakeholders with whom our Career Office works hand-in-hand. The Forum will help students as a platform to find out what the current employment trends are; current skills needed to employ and employer expectations.”

 

The Astrolabe Career Forum kicked off with an opening ceremony followed by a roundtable about how to build trust and credibility for a young professional entering into the workplace, and the best students awards. 

 

The first day ended with a discussion session with students in law on the role and responsibility of today’s lawyer and a meeting with European ambassadors who discussed the relations between European countries and the UAE. The second day started with an expo and career discovery exhibition where students and graduates connected with more than 50 participating corporate organizations from public and private sectors. During the last day today, students participated in a discussion about creative thinking, the innovation mindset and the skills needed to become an entrepreneur.
