CIGRE International Conference and 21st Exhibition for Electrical Equipment in Doha, Siemens will share shares its innovative and comprehensive technology portfolio for economical, reliable, and intelligent transmission and distribution of power. The company will also highlight its existing and potential contributions to the power sector in Qatar and the wider Middle East region in six high-level papers. The papers will shed light on the company’s successful implementation of advanced technology solutions in the area of transmission and distribution regionally and globally. The show, also known as GCC Power, will be held from November 8th to 10th.

 

“At GCC Power, Siemens will demonstrate how its innovative and reliable technology continues to support Qatar and the region in the area of power transmission and distribution,” said Adrian Wood, CEO of Siemens in Qatar. “Our solutions, combined with our drive for digitalization, can help create efficiency, productivity and reliability gains towards sustainable growth and economic diversification for the region’s populations.”

 

Atef El-Irani, Senior Power System Expert, Energy Management, Siemens Middle East, will present a paper referencing a case study of Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO). El-Irani’s study will highlight the application of Siemens’ Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) to oil and gas power networks. STATCOM is a reactive power compensation system that helps stabilize power supply.

 

Additionally, Thomas Mangold, Senior Sales Manager of FACTS at Siemens AG, will highlight the advantages of a multi-level Hybrid Static Var Compensation (SVC), a high voltage system that controls network voltage dynamically, keeping it constantly at a set reference value. For his part, Petr Rudenko, Head of Technical Marketing for Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) at Siemens AG, will discuss new non-conventional instrument transformer (NCIT), a future technology in GIS.
 

Siemens has been working with Qatar to power its ambitious growth aspirations across various sectors over the last years. The company’s solutions are responsible for transmitting and distributing over 60 percent of power generated in the country.
