Sharjah Census 2015 recruiting female Arab researchers

Female Arab recruits are needed by the Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) as researchers for the Sharjah Census 2015. Women from various Arab nationalities are needed to work in temporary evening positions as part of the team for the project currently being implemented by DSCD under the theme "For a Better Tomorrow".

The researcher contract is for approximately 30 days starting from November 26, and is for seven hours a day, six days a week with all tasks being in the field, including data collection from homes and interviewing families to collect data about them.

Female candidates must have completed secondary education and have a school leaving certificate as well as being competent with smart devices. Researchers must 22 years old or above. Those who fit the criteria can take part in interviews being held at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry from November 15-19, between 9 am to 4pm.

Since October 20th the department has embarked on the data collection phase that includes buildings, houses and establishments, in preparation for data gathering of the population which will begin on December 6, involving nearly 1300 team members, including staff, supervisors, observers, researchers and collaborators.

In February, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, issued Emiri decree No 7 of 2015 on conducting a general census of the population, infrastructure, housing and establishments in Sharjah. The census aims to provide accurate and reliable statistical data on economic, social and demographic sectors and others in the emirate of Sharjah.

The Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development is the only authorized statistical body in the emirate and the source of official statistical data, as well as the body mandated with all community development-related policies and plans. It is a corporate body with full legal capacity to carry out and direct all work and necessary actions to achieve its objectives.
