Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, general supervisor of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid (KSRelief), inaugurated the building project of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CoES)’s republican education and training center in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe.

The $1.79 million project consists of a three-story building, a basement for 40 personnel, meeting rooms, specially equipped teaching rooms, a library, archive, laboratory, sports hall, restaurant, employee offices and hotel. The building has been equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and equipment, appliances and furniture.

“KSRelief has carried out several projects in 42 countries during the last three years, among which are the projects implemented in Tajikistan to prevent the occurrence and recurrence of floods,” Al-Rabeeah said.

Al-Rabeeah also inaugurated a project of Panj and Jobkije rivers to prevent the flooding of villages and agricultural land in the Hamdoni area in the Khatlon district of Tajikistan.

The $6.35 million project is to protect villages near the Panj River in the Hamdoni area affected by floods, causing significant economic and humanitarian losses. 

The project also contributes to the protection of more than 135,000 people and more than 14,656 hectares of land, and 20 kilometers on the banks of the river on the Tajik side.

The project also increases the chances of the population to secure jobs in sustainable agricultural development and water resource management, and has been implemented by six contracting companies in coordination with Tajikistan Land Reclamation and Irrigation Agency.
