Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah in London to Explore Best Practices in Girls’ Development

The Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah (Sajaya) - a subsidiary of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators (Rubu’ Qarn) - recently took an official delegation to London, UK, with the aim of providing them an opportunity to explore an array of programmes run by British institutions, which apply best international practices to support young people to build bright futures for themselves.

The delegation comprised Sajaya’s Director, Sheikha Aisha Khalid Al Qasimi; Asma Mohammed Hassouni, Head of Corporate Communications; and Head of Events Department, Reem Khalid Al Hammadi. They were introduced to the latest training programmes implemented by the British Youth Organization - International Youth Voice, Girl Guiding UK, British Youth Council, Royal Academy of Engineering and Youth Sport Trust International.

The delegation highlighted the efforts of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, to empower young ladies in the region by nurturing their talents and capabilities. It explored UK’s experience in building young ladies’ creative and artistic capabilities, and analysed ways in which these rich international experiences could be applied to their programmes back home.

“Our visit to London is in line with our commitment to explore a variety of international experiences, mingle with multicultural institutions, and trade our expertise with the aim of investing in the creative energies of young ladies and help them transform those into their biggest strengths. Our visit deepened collaboration between the UAE and the UK, and was a rich cultural exchange where we learnt so much and in turn educated our British counterparts about Emirati culture and its dedication to nurturing generation after generation of capable young ladies in society,” said Sheikha Aisha Khalid Al Qasimi.

Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah is dedicated to developing the talents of girls aged 13-18 years in all creative spheres. Established in 2004 under the umbrella of Sharjah Children’s Centres, it became an independent entity in 2012 following an administrative decree from Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation.
