Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah – a subsidiary of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators (Rubu’ Qarn) – has held the closing ceremony on Sunday for the Summer Programme ‘100 Hours of Giving’. Sajaya has honoured a host of its members who renovated 72 homes for families in need across the emirate, commending their efforts and the pivotal role they played in promoting Sajaya’s message which is aimed at enhancing the spirit of giving.

The ceremony was held in the presence of HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, whose strategic partnership has contributed to nurturing the programme, in addition to sponsors, supporters and collaborators.

 

About 800 young ladies developed 32 houses in Sharjah, 24 in Kalba and 16 in Khor Fakkan, as part of the ‘100 Hours of Giving’ summer programme launched by Sajaya to ensure the occupants of the houses could enjoy their fundamental rights to decent living standards, comfort, healthy surroundings and happiness.

The initiative aimed to instil the values of volunteering and philanthropy in the young ladies as well as foster a strong sense of responsibility towards members of the community in need. The voluntary community programme has exemplified the emirate’s vision for entrenching the values of social solidarity, integration, constructive work and social responsibility.

Sheikha Aisha Khalid Al Qasimi, Director of Sajaya, said: “Through this programme, it has been a priority to enhance not just the values, but the acts of giving and with these volunteering initiatives, the young ladies understand more and more that it is a social duty and community commitment.

“Selfless voluntary work is one of the true virtues that reflect patriotism and sense of belonging to the country. It represents collaboration, support and perseverance, and Sajaya is reinforcing those supreme values into its members,” she added.  

The ‘100 Hours of Giving’ programme’s array of activities was concluded with support from several government entities, including Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Emirates Transport and Sharjah Cooperative Society. Collaborators included Sharjah Municipality, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Sharjah Police Headquarters, Sharjah Contact Centre, Bee’ah, Sharjah Charity International, Sharjah Education Council and Sharjah Healthcare City  

Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah is dedicated to developing the talents of girls aged 13-18 years in all creative spheres. Established in 2004 under the umbrella of Sharjah Children’s Centres, Sajaya became an independent entity in 2012 following an administrative decision by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation.
