SABIC supported the region’s metals industry with its Gold sponsorship of the three-day 20th Middle East Iron and Steel Conference in Dubai that ended yesterday (Dec. 14), seeking to enhance its brand reputation as a regional leader in the steel industry. The conference is the largest of its kind in the Middle East region.

SABIC engaged with customers at the conference to strengthen business relationships, while promoting its advanced portfolio of steel products and presenting its sustainability and innovation competencies to a large audience of representatives from the regional metals industry and global steel supply chain.

Abdulaziz Al-Humaid, SABIC Executive Vice President, Metals, took part in a panel discussion on “Recovery and Improving Production Efficiencies – How Are GCC Region Steel Makers Faring in the Global Market?”

SABIC participation this year included three conference papers and an exhibition stand. The papers addressed Macroeconomic Overviews, Steel Market Developments and Sustainability.

SABIC is the largest metals manufacturer in the region, having producing approximate 6 million metric tons of steel products.

The Middle East Iron and Steel Conference is reputed to be the most highly attended event organized specifically for the region’s iron and steel market. According to the organizers, as many as 816 delegates from 414 companies attended last year.
