Pilgrims’ buses to be electronically monitored

Buses transporting pilgrims will be constantly monitored electronically this Haj season, according to acting secretary general of the General Syndicate of Cars Osama Samkari.

An agreement to this effect was signed between the General Syndicate of Cars and Wadi Company for Technology of Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah on Saturday.

“A unified e-map will be established to monitor the movement of buses since the arrival of the first batch of pilgrims until the departure of the last one,” he said.

Samkari said the data on the movement of buses and transport companies will be collected and presented on a unified electronic map at the syndicate.

He said the officials of the syndicate and the ministry will be able to monitor the movement of buses inside Makkah, Madinah, the Holy Sites, on the roads and the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to quickly undertake any necessary action in times of emergencies.

Samkari said more than 16,000 buses will be transporting Haj pilgrims.

The General Syndicate of Cars aims to organize and direct the transportation of Haj and Umrah pilgrims, students and tourists.

The objective of the syndicate is to ensure a safe transportation of pilgrims.

Its mission is to provide well-organized and diversified services to pilgrims with the highly sophisticated means of transport in compliance with safety standards and environment protection criteria.
