Nominations for Urban Heritage Award opens

The Secretariat General of the Prince Sultan bin Salman Urban Heritage Award has invited the submission of nominations for the sixth session of the Urban Heritage Award this year.

The nomination is exclusive to the students from colleges or architecture and planning schools, as well as colleges of tourism and antiquities in the Kingdom and other Gulf countries.
Entering nominations for the award can be done through the Urban Heritage's official website: www.sultanbinsalmanaward.com. Nominations will remain open until July 30, 2015.

In order to enter the competition, the applicant is required to fill out the application form for the intended award category, and must then send the form by fax or email to the Al-Turath Foundation. Projects presented by students are expected to be implemented within the GCC countries, and should be related to urban heritage.
A number of workshops and lectures on urban heritage will be held in various parts of the Kingdom to highlight the experiences of previous award winners and their projects.
The award distribution ceremony and accompanying exhbition will be held in Qassim from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3, 2015. The ceremony will be held on the sidelines of the 5th National Urban Heritage Forum in the region.

The Prince Sultan bin Salman Urban Heritage Award was launched on Jan. 2, 2005 by Prince Sultan bin Salman, Al-Turath founder and chairman of the Supreme Committee of the award, and president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism & Antiquities (SCTA).
The award was instituted to recognize and honor any efforts that may contribute to the preservation, development and highlighting of the urban heritage of GCC countries as an integral part of Islamic urban heritage.
