Moroccan experience in desert tourism hailed

The Moroccan experience in desert tourism is largely similar to that of Saudi Arabia, which boasts of a unique diversity in culture in its different regions, Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH), has said.
He made the statement as he opened a workshop on the Moroccan experience in desert tourism at the National Museum here.
The opening ceremony was attended by SCTNH officials, mayors, investors and workers in the tourism industry and hospitality sectors, among others.
"There’s no doubt that Morocco is among the leading countries, if not the leader, in desert tourism. The similarities in the Saudi and Moroccan experiences are in terms of the rural population, villages and communities.
In both experiences, there’s originality and hospitality, which are the most important components of tourism,” he said.
Prince Sultan said the workshop is part of a tourism strategy “which we’re working on and it is related to the development of tourist tracks and deserts and the preservation of heritage.”
“We hope that this collaboration will open up economic and commercial possibilities for local investors in the Kingdom,” he said
“This sector will also bring economic opportunities and provide additional income to families who’d be involved in this sector in villages,” he added.
The workshop showed the Moroccan experience in tourist tracks and organization of integrated desert route and services. Proper and effective promotion of desert tourism were also discussed.
