Middle East’s Leading Lighting Summit Begins this Week

Held under the patronage of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality, Middle East’s leading lighting summit is back with its fourth edition of the Middle East Smart Lighting and Energy Summit. Organized by global conference producers, Expotrade, the two–day summit will be held on 23-24 November, 2015 at Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi. The summit will feature over 20 global thought leaders and industry experts presenting business cases via keynote sessions and panel discussions.

H.E. Musabbah Mubarak Al Murr, General Manager, Abu Dhabi City Municipality will inaugurate the summit in the presence of esteemed dignitaries and Ambassadors from the Embassies of Canada, Russia, Belgium, Czech Republic, Iran, Chile and Angola to name a few.

The summit is a one-stop platform to encourage cross-sector learning among technologists, designers, architects, consultants, engineers, developers and policy makers within the local government, who are involved in the development of smart lighting projects in the region. 

This year’s edition of the summit will witness a robust lineup of sector specialists and innovators delving upon potentially game-changing lighting techniques and advancements in the lighting domain in the region.” commented Mr. Brad Hariharan, Regional Director, Expotrade Middle East.

In a bid to attain its energy saving and sustainability goals, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality has made a noteworthy progress on implementing smart lighting solutions across the city’s arterial and internal roads, highways, traffic prone areas, pedestrian crossings and parking areas.

The invite-only summit agenda features more than 20 curated sessions covering topics such as Lighting Strategy of Abu Dhabi City Municipality; new age lighting applications and technologies; future of lighting standards for Abu Dhabi; innovative street infrastructure solutions; IoT applied in lighting; outdoor lighting initiatives and sustainable lighting solutions impacting the industry. Panel discussions on topical themes such as the future innovations impacting the industry and best use of solar power to increase energy efficiency will be provide the attendees with significant valuable knowledge and insights.

Emphasizing on the importance to conserve energy, keynote speaker Mr. Olli Markkanen, Office Manager - Public Works Department, Outdoor Lighting Office, City of Helsinki, said, “We need to remember, that lighting is only a small and minor part of our daily energy consumption, for example also traffic, heating & cooling need to be downsized to fight against the global warming. Every method to save energy is important.”

The summit is supported by renowned companies such as Havells Sylvania, Yaming, Metrosmart International, Philips, Valmont, Fagerhult Lighting Group, Nikkon and iGuzzini. Additionally, the exhibitor lounge will feature 22 solution providers showcasing their product range and solutions at the two-day summit.

Mr. Hariharan, further added, “Our summit will prove to be an ideal platform for over 400 lighting professionals from across the GCC to gain insights, discuss and explore new opportunities, trends and developments driving this sector.”
