Commerce and Industry Minister Tawfiq Al-Rabiah launched the second phase of what will be the country’s largest drug plant.

Al-Rabiah laid the foundation stone for the project in Sudair City for Industry and Business, 100 km north of the capital.
Al-Rabiah said Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman launched the SR1 billion project seven years ago. 
“This is one of the outcomes of the vision of King Salman, who allocated the land 22 years ago to build the city, when he was governor of Riyadh.”
The event was attended by Deputy Health Minister Hamad Al-Dowailea, Sudair Company for Drugs Chairman Wael Kaoosh, CEO Yassir Al-Obaida and other officials.
In his speech, Kaoosh said the plant would help localize the manufacturing of drugs according to the highest international standards, and contribute to drug security in the country. 
“This project is a wonderful example of what a sincere partnership between the government and private sector can achieve. It will help to provide medicine for citizens at competitive prices and enhance exports to the region and world,” he said. 
The plant will produce drugs for oral cancer, respiratory illnesses and also intravenous nutrition.
