Game of Thrones star Jack Gleeson and HTC fans get hands on with HTC Vive

HTC fans were captivated by their first experience of the HTC Vive in the Middle East region – a part of the HTC Vive Global Tour – in Dubai today and during the IGN Convention in Abu Dhabi last weekend. Actor Jack Gleeson of Game of Thrones fame tried the next generation virtual reality gear, along with voice actors Dave Fennoy of the Walking Dead and Adam Harrington of the Wolf Among Us video games, cosplayer Nadia SK and hundreds of other fans in the emirates.

“Our VR headset has received an immensely positive global response. Lauded as the virtual reality headset that will change the world of gaming by a slew of global tech writers, we had to give the Middle East a taste of what was yet to come in the world of VR. The response from fans around the region was exciting,” said Neeraj Seth, Head of Marketing, HTC MEA. “VR technology is the next thing in gaming, but it has the potential for so much more. As a company committed to changing the game when it comes to pioneering technology and innovative design, all we have to say is that the best is yet to come!”

Co-developed by HTC and Valve, the Vive can render two screens at the resolution of 1,200 by 1,080 pixel screen in front of each eye, with refresh rates of a blistering 90 frames per second, displays photorealistic imagery that fills your field of vision in all directions, eliminating the jitter common to previous VR technologies and transporting you to another world.

The IGN Convention which was attended by more than 5000 gaming and pop culture enthusiasts from across the region was the ideal event to launch the much anticipated HTC Vive.
