G-20: KSA to highlight economic progress

The Kingdom plans to highlight the country’s economic progress and influence globally at the meeting of G-20 Ministers of Labor and Employment here this week, said Mufrej Al-Haqabani, Saudi Arabia’s labor minister.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency on the sidelines of the G-20 meeting which opened here Thursday, Al-Haqabani said the gathering is an opportunity to outline the efforts of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman in terms of economic development.
The minister said the ministry would present a report at the meeting on the country’s Saudization program, measures to tackle unemployment and support for women’s empowerment.

He said the report explores support given to the ministry’s initiatives through the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation and the Human Resources Development Fund, which extends protection to those who have lost their jobs, an initiative that has been praised worldwide. He said the private sector is a strategic partner in helping to achieve Saudization goals. He said the Saudi economy would grow if there is an improvement in oil prices and the global financial outlook. However, the government has managed the economy prudently and can absorb global market fluctuations, he said.
