Free mobile maintenance training program popular among retired people

The provision of free training programs in mobile phone sales and maintenance have emerged as a golden opportunity for retired people in the Kingdom.
The retirees are learning these skills within a range of training programs organized by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) in various colleges and technical institutes around the country. This comes as part of the government’s efforts to nationalize the industry.
A number of retired people who have enrolled in the TVTC programs note that the Saudization of the communication sector has provided them with an opportunity for additional income, while also opening up opportunities for them to gain new skills and stay active in their communities, even in their old age.
Obaid Hamid Al-Rahimi, a retired man, said that his enrolment in the mobile maintenance training course has enabled him to gain skills that could help him start a new business and increase his income.
Another retired person, Bassam Al-Shahrani, urged Saudis to utilize this new opportunity and attend these free training courses across the Kingdom.
Al-Shahran added that, previously, entering the communication sector was impossible, as training in this ski; was not readily available in the Kingdom. “Now, however, there is a lot of opportunity available through TVTC, free of charge,” Al-Shahran said.
Engineer Abdullah Al-Fawzan, head of the Electronics Department of the Technical College or Riyadh, said that there was theoretical and practical training being undertaken within the program so that those who pass the training are fully capable of performing the maintenance of mobile phones on their own. He said that the three most common mobile phones in the local and international markets were being used as the basis for the training.
Demonstrating the quality of the programs, representatives from a number of international mobile phone companies have visited the training sites and surveyed the learning modules and the technologies being used, lauding the programs being provided by the TVTC as groundbreaking.
The TVTC commenced the second phase of the free training program on the 19th day of Shawwal across the Kingdom through various technical colleges and institutions.
