Flower and garden festival opens in Yanbu

The 17-day 10th Flower and Garden Festival which opened here in Yanbu on Friday is expected to again attract thousands of visitors.

The event was launched by Alaa bin Abdullah Nassif, chief executive of the Royal Commission for Yanbu, at the Events Garden in Yanbu Industrial City. Nassif said the event was aimed at providing further recreational activities for visitors.
The festival is a haven for plant lovers where they can see thousands of different species and learn about protecting the environment. The event is also held as a way to beautify the city.
Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Zahrani, president of the festival, said they built a special 12-meter wall of flowers starting at the entrance dedicated to the soldiers protecting the country.
More than 150 companies and institutions from the Kingdom and abroad are participating, showing off their products including furnishing and maintenance of household gardens, installation of modern irrigation, agricultural tools, nursery products, garden furniture, fertilizers and seeds. 
There is also an area where the public can get information on traffic rules, and rationalization of electricity and water.
