Empower concluded its participation in 18th WETEX

The Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), world’s largest district cooling services provider, concluded its participating in the 18thWater, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2016 and the third World Green Economy Summit (WGES) that were held in Dubai as part of the 3rdGreen Week. Empower was honored by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the organiser of both the events.

 

The opening ceremony of WGES was attended by HE Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower along a number of government officials and representatives from the private sector from the UAE and the region.

 

“Our participation in WETEX and WGES is part of our continuous efforts and firm commitment towards conserving energy and continue innovation in district cooling industry as it is posed to replace conventional cooling systems. The participation also demonstrates our efforts and initiatives to promote sustainability and providing environmentally friendly solutions through district cooling technologies," said HE Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

 

Empower stressed, during 18th WETEX and 3rd WGES, on the importance of implementing green initiatives as part of Dubai Plan 2021.

 

Empower’s participation in WETEX and WGES highlighted its global leadership position as the world’s largest district cooling services provider and demonstrated its strategy that aims to face environmental issues and help other countries to adopt more sustainable and effective solutions in district cooling sector, across the world.

 

WGES 2016 was held in line with Dubai Plan 2021 and Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 that aim to transfer Dubai into a green city and enhance the shift towards a green economy to enable sustainable development in all fields. This comes in line with the objectives of Empower to reduce dependence on conventional energy and rationalise the consumption knowing the fact that a major share of energy consumed in the region is for cooling activities.

Bin Shafar underlined Empower's commitment towards WGES' recommendations resulting from the gathering of opinion leaders, experts and specialists participated in the summit. The summit demonstrated their collective expertise in the fields of green solutions, technologies and services. Empower believes that these recommendations are fundamental in ensuring sustainable development in all vital sectors like industrial, property and others.

“We achieved major successes and achievements at WGES on the short and long terms in line with UAE's pioneering role in achieving sustainable development and green development,” concluded Bin Shafar.

Empower currently operates more than 1,100,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT), providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai
