Emirates Islamic marks World Literacy Day

On the occasion of World Literacy day, Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, organised various events at the bank’s headquarters in Dubai Healthcare City. The bank honoured Mahra Salem Ali Al Muhairi, the eldest participant enrolled in an adult education centre to celebrate participants’ efforts towards achieving literacy and their contribution to national development.

Mahra Salem Ali Al Muhairi, was honoured by senior from Emirates Islamic including Salah Amin, CEO, Marwan Salem Abunawas AlMheiri, Chief Human Resources Officer and Awatif Al Harmoodi, General Manager, Operational Governance.

 

Ms. Al Muhairi said: “I have a strong desire to read and write, and an even greater desire to learn how to read The Holy Quran. By setting an example, I am delighted to have encouraged a large number of my family members and friends to join the adult education centre to help fight illiteracy and change their lives.”

 

As part of the bank’s commitment to education and skills development, Emirates Islamic has also distributed reading books to non-Arabic speakers in collaboration with Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department, and the Islamic Information Center. In addition, Emirates Islamic’s internal Happiness Squad has set up a library where the bank’s employees can donate and borrow books.

Emirates Islamic is an active contributor to community health and development initiatives, with the bank’s staff regularly volunteering for a range of community support activities across the UAE.
