Earth Hour at Media Rotana

Media Rotana celebrated Earth Hour together with the rest of the world as an action to fight climate change. Students from different schools in Dubai came together to express how much they care for the environment and raise awareness about climate change. They collectively shared their talents and reflections to mark the importance of this event to the delight of the audience.

“Media Rotana is participating annually in the Earth Hour, it is our commitment to the preservation of land and sustainable development, and all these initiatives and competitions are aimed at raising awareness and understanding of the importance of individual efforts to contribute to the preservation of the environment and land", commented Sherif Madkour, the General Manager of Media Rotana.

A Grade 10 and musical genius, named Mikhail Potvar, beautifully performed “Italy O Sole Mio” with his violin. Action songs were rendered by Sofia Sison, Gabriella Alexander, Addison Alexander, Masa Al Far, Hashem Al Far, Karma Al Ghaith, Youanna Lawendy, Aylin Babacan, Elias Ahad, Junting Lin, and Angel Malihan creatively with glowing hands and feet.

The performance started 15 minutes before the scheduled event, to give time for the children to share their thoughts in the light to the audience of the Media Rotana Earth Hour. At exactly 8:30 pm, all lights were turned off that offered a serene feeling all around. The Media Rotana team customarily lit candles that were assembled to form the Rotana motif.

Earth Hour is just one of the many CSR activities lined up this year. There are still more exciting projects belonging to its sustainability plan to look forward to very, very soon.
