Dubai Customs spreads breast cancer awareness

It’s pink everywhere at Dubai Customs as ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month’ is being observed this October.

The Ladies Committee at DC has organized a three-day awareness event to engage employees and customers in its divers activities to educate the public about the risks and causes of breast cancer, and allow everyone to do their bit for breast cancer and show support to those affected by the disease.

The premises of Dubai Customs wore pink along with breast cancer ribbons.  Moreover, a tree of hope was set up in the lobby where  well-wishers from DC officials and staff were invited to write down messages of hope, optimism and happiness addressed to all women with breast cancer and their families.

Also as part of the events, pink and white flowers were planted into a breast-cancer-ribbon shaped basin at DC’s garden. The gesture signifies hope and consciousness about the social responsibility the organization has toward fighting breast cancer and raising people’s awareness about it.

The UAE is one of the most active countries worldwide in terms of breast cancer awareness campaigns. So many events and initiatives are being held across the nation during the month of October and throughout the year to educate people about the importance of early detection of breast cancer, medical treatment and social support for those affected. This has resulted in instances of breast cancer dropping down at the UAE level.

Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women worldwide. It is also the second deadliest form of the disease in women, after lung cancer.
