Dubai Culture supports Korea-UAE cultural day

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts, heritage, and literature, supported the Korea-UAE cultural day by hosting an event as part of its eagerness to promote cultural exchange and values of tolerance between the United Arab Emirates, its allies, and brotherly countries around the world.

VIP officials from government institutions in Dubai, consuls, and members of the diplomatic corps attended the ceremony, in addition to large numbers of intellectuals, journalists, members of Korean clubs, and those interested in Korean culture and arts.

The aim of organising this cultural event was to commemorate the anniversary of the late Sheikh Zayed’s birth and to celebrate the ‘Year of Zayed’ initiative, as well as to celebrate the Consulate General of South Korea for its tenth Dubai inauguration anniversary that included segments of Korean culture, music, dance, and arts.

To attract the largest possible number of visitors, the Consulate set up a platform to familiarise the public with the arts of Korean and Arabic calligraphy; there was also a special section dedicated to the display of traditional Korean clothes for visitors to wear and take memorable photos in. To illustrate the strong relations between the two countries, a photographic pavilion was also set in place to highlight the visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to the United Arab Emirates, demonstrating the successful projects that are being developed by Korean companies in different parts of the UAE.

On that day, visitors presented with traditional Korean music and dance, attracting a large regional audience. The organisers of the ceremony were interested in the promotion of culture, where a distinct pavilion was set up for a series of important Korean books recommended by the American newspaper Washington Post and the British newspaper The Guardian.

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the UAE’s rich heritage. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisations and cultures to enhance Dubai's position as a creative and sustainable global city for culture, heritage, arts, and literature, with the aim to empower these sectors by developing creative and innovative projects and initiatives locally, regionally, and globally.
