Dubai Culture Participates in ‘Shield of Society’ Award

Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts, heritage, and literature, has announced its participation in the ‘Shield of Society’ award organised by the Community Development Authority (CDA) in celebration of the ‘Year of Zayed’ initiative. After the evaluation was completed, Aisha Eid AlMujanione of the female employees of the Authority, was the winner.

Dubai Culture supported the CDA to ensure the success of this national initiative aimed at honouringunknown individuals in various organization by its nomination of Aisha Eid AlMujaini for this award. The candidate was able to pass the criteria and was selected by the CDA with four other nominees from more than 100 applicants representing different government entities in Dubai. Aisha was awardedthe Grand Prize for her excellence and dedication in performing her role.

Mohammed Al Marri, Director of Human Resources Department at Dubai Culture, said: “We are delighted to participate in this award and to support the Community Initiatives organisedby the CDA, especially as it coincides with ‘Year of Zayed 2018.’ Our candidate for this prestigious award is praiseworthy after having displayed excellence in all standards, surpassing more than 100 applicants in various fields. Aisha is a model of employee who isdedicatedto serving the nation; we congratulate her and wish her further success and progress in her work.”

The first criteria that she excelled at was her practicein the fields of (Veil Making loan, Threads, Fragrance Making in addition to Palm fronds braiding) since 2009 in Dubai Culture. In her profession, Aisha representsthe image of heritage, drawing the traditional Emirati life into the minds of those present to contribute to the preservation of heritage and tourism promotion in the country.

The second criteriarequiresthe person to be unknown, and though Aisha produces 200 pieces annually, and despite her contributions, shehas not been recognizaed for it.

Also, Aisha fulfilled two additional criteria: her contributionsto the service of a community outside her line of work, free of charge, where she providesmany raw materials at her own expense in various locations, most of which takes place after her working hours. Aisha consistently works hard to give and help in as much as she can.

Dubai Culture aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural scene and draw attention to the UAE’s rich heritage. The Authority’s mandate is to build bridges of constructive dialogue between different civilisationsand cultures to enhance Dubai's position as a creative and sustainable global city for culture, heritage, arts, and literature, with the aim to empower these sectors by developing creative and innovative projects and initiatives locally, regionally, and globally.
