DP World receives high-level Dubai Police delegation at Hamdan bin Mohammed Cruise Terminal

DP World received at Hamdan bin Mohammed Cruise Terminal a high-level delegation from Dubai Police headed by Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, and included Brigadier Pilot Ahmad Mohammed Bin Thani, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Ports and a number of senior police officials.

The delegation was received by Mohammed Al Mannaei, CEO – P&O Marinas, Executive Director – Mina Rashid, DP World UAE Region and a number of officials in the Group.

A meeting was held to discuss means of enhancing cooperation in developing new smart services that can be delivered to cruise tourists in support of tourism industry in Dubai and more diversification of its economy following the vision behind the eight principles of governance laid out by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. 

Al Marri toured Hamdan bin Mohammed Cruise Terminal accompanied by Mohammed Al Mannaei and other officials in DP World. The visitors viewed the latest projects at the port and yacht wharfs including the Smart Navigation application which enables users manage the entry and exit of their vessels using their smart phones. 

AL Merri applauded DP World’s efforts in developing cruise tourism and their great role in supporting the emirate’s economy. 

Al Mannaei said, “Cooperation with Dubai Police is a priority for us. This supports our work plans and helps us serve our tourists in the best possible way. It’s good to benefit from Dubai Police’s smart applications and incorporate them in our future projects. 

DP World works hard to develop cruise terminal facilities to the world highest standards and actively contribute to attract more international cruise lines to Dubai in support of tourism sector and to promote economy growth. Ongoing developments in Hamdan Bin Mohamed Cruise Terminal are in place to ensure the terminal meets the highest world standards, and the requirements of major international cruise ships. Cruise tourism promotes Dubai as a leading cruise tourism hub regionally and globally”.

Hamdan bin Mohammed Cruise Terminal recorded a milestone with 172 percent increase in number of cruise tourists from 2014 with a 232.6 thousand visitors to 2018 with 632.7 thousand visitors, in addition to a significant growth of vessel calls from 94 calls in 2014 to 120 calls in 2018.
