Aqaba's "logistics city" project 1st stage launched

Director of the Golden Triangle Investment Company in Aqaba, Obeid Yassin, said the first phase of the Golden Triangle Logistics City, which provides a 260,000-square-metre building and additional 140,000-square-metre areas for customs services in accordance with best global practices, has begun operations.

According to Yassin, the city has a specialized customs center, as well as repackaging, shipping, banking facilities, and also offers special warehouses for hazardous materials, to ensure the safety of people and goods.

In a press statement, he said the city, which has so far provided 50 jobs for Jordanians, will get the number doubled by the end of 2020, and then will hit 250 at the end of 2021.

With an investment over JD20 million, he announced the "logistics city" project provides integrated transport, storage, and handling systems in accordance with international best practices.

Located next to Aqaba’s new port, and developed by a group of private companies in cooperation with the state-run Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), the project will work in coordination with all the concerned private and public stakeholders and partners in order to maximise the benefits of the country’s strategic location.
