Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Minister Khalid Al-Falih paid a visit to the Mishkat exhibition here at the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE) that highlights the importance of renewable energy in sustainable development.

Upon his visit to K.A.CARE headquarters on Wednesday, he was received by President Hashem Abdullah Yamani.
Al-Falih also assumed charge as the chairman of the board of directors of K.A.CARE.
Yamani said that the minister’s assumption of the chairman of the board of directors of K.A.CARE comes as a step forward to strengthening its role to become one in a series of institutions related to renewable energy which will result in facilitating the implementation of K.A.CARE programs in the fields of atomic energy, mining of uranium and renewable energy.
During this visit, a meeting was also held with a number of K.A.CARE officials, said the media department on Thursday.
A PowerPoint presentation was made on K.A.CARE strategies and plans of applying knowledge management and providing advice for any possible improvements toward programs for peaceful atomic energy for sustainable energy development in the Kingdom, it added.
After the meeting, the minister visited the Mishkat interactive exhibition, which is considered one of K.A.CARE’s premier initiatives for sustainable energy development.
Al-Falih watched a visual presentation on sustainable energy and looked into the most important exhibits.
K.A.CARE is working on a renewable energy program, Vision 2032, which aims to replace 50 percent of Kingdom’s dependence on traditional fossil fuels with eco-friendly atomic and renewable energy to be collected from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat.
Vision 2032 assumes greater significance in the wake of Vision 2030 that aims to reduce dependence on oil and diversify the Saudi economy.
To provide practical examples on how to achieve and apply knowledge management in nuclear energy organizations, K.A.CARE, in cooperation with experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), recently organized a workshop here on the IAEA mechanism in knowledge management for peaceful use of atomic energy.
The purpose of the workshop was to discuss a number of important subjects and review methods and challenges of successful knowledge management, mainly those relevant to the nature of nuclear energy organizations.
