Al Bandar Rotana Launches Initiatives to Mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Reinforcing its commitment to contribute to the local community’s well-being, Al Bandar Rotana, the five-star property located on the northern shore of Dubai Creek, has launched a new campaign to mark the Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. The campaign is the latest of several corporate social responsibility initiatives the hotel has introduced since its opening in March 2018.

The hotel’s initiatives to raise awareness on early detection and diagnosis, treatment and palliative care of the most common cancer in women worldwide included free early breast cancer screening tests and consultation for its staff and guests conducted by Prime Hospital on 15 October. In addition, participants of the event were also invited to a lecture focusing on the signs and symptoms of the disease, prevention methods, as well as the benefits of early detection.

As part of the month-long campaign, Al Bandar Rotana has joined major buildings in Dubai in lighting up exteriors in pink hue in honour of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to remind visitors and residents of the city on the importance of early check-up. In addition, the hotel’s Vanilla Lobby Lounge, a stylish, café-style venue for hot and cold beverages, snacks, and light meals, has been offering healthy pink bites and treats as part of the campaign.

Furthermore, the hotel has offered women wearing pink free access to Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Club, a fully-equipped gymnasium with both cardiovascular and free-weight training areas. Guests can work out at no cost at the state-of-the-art gymnasium located on the 13th floor of Al Bandar Rotana with a stunning view of Dubai Creek until the breast cancer awareness campaign concludes on 31 October, 2018.

Hussein Hachem, General Manager, Al Bandar Rotana and Al Bandar Arjaan by Rotana, said: “We are delighted to launch our breast awareness campaign to contribute to the global efforts in fighting the disease by way of educating people on early diagnosis and treatment, as well as on prevention and control measures. The wide-ranging awareness initiatives are a true testimony to Al Bandar Rotana’s unrelenting commitment to the well-being of the local community, including its staff and guests, and demonstrate the success of Rotana Earth, our global corporate sustainability platform that helps Rotana to reinforce a sense of social responsibility among our colleagues across its properties worldwide.”

Although both men and women face the risk of breast cancer, it is the most commonly occurring cancer in women both in the developed and the developing world. It is estimated that 2 million people were diagnosed with the cancer in 2018. Even though hormonal, lifestyle and environmental factors are found to be increasing the risk of breast cancer, the exact causes of the disease are still unclear. However, if detected at an early stage, breast cancer is more likely to be cured.
