223 photos depict king’s sincere care for KSU

King Saud University (KSU) has documented the care and support given by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to the university for more than four decades through a photo album containing 223 photos depicting the king’s historic relations with KSU since its establishment.

The file begins with 23 photos commencing with the donation of a piece of land, the land document issued in 1389 and construction operations in 1396. Another 29 photos show King Salman as he inspects KSU facilities and his press statement to the King Saud University publication during his visit to the university in Malaz District in 1395.
The file also contains 69 photos demonstrating the keen interest and care of King Salman in attending graduation ceremonies since 1395, whereas another 39 photos reflect the king’s deep love of culture and thought through his patronage and attendance of book fairs organized by the university, and the launching of the university’s library in 1377, which was later named the “King Salman bin Abdulaziz Library” in 1422. The library contains nearly a million titles.
The file also contains 23 photos showing the king’s support of initiatives for the development of scientific research at the university, localization of technology, and creation of communal partnerships in the areas of education and practical research in addition to another 13 photos highlighting the care shown by King Salman to university endowment projects.

Rector of KSU Badran bin Abdulrahman Al-Omar, who wrote an introductory word on the photo file, said the link between King Salman and KSU was not a normal relationship but one deeply rooted to the extent that he has become one of the most prominent men who brought the university to glory, wrote its history and drew its future, whereby it has become a center for knowledge, scientific reference and a source of minds and expertise.
“The university has achieved many good things thanks to Allah, then thanks to the care given by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the university, who showed a remarkable presence during every stage of the university’s history,” he pointed out.
For his part, the supervisor of the King Salman Center for Historical and Civilization Studies of Arabian Peninsula, Abdullah bin Nasir Al-Subaei, said the photo file will explain to current and future generations of KSU graduates and staff the enormous efforts exerted by King Salman in support of science and scientists and their scientific activities as well.
