Royal push for ‘digital good’ platform

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has ordered a donation of $500,000 in support of a number of development projects within the “digital good” project.

Nizar bin Obaid Madani, minister of state for foreign affairs, made the announcement during the launch of the “digital good” platform in Riyadh.
The event took place at the Foreign Ministry in Riyadh.
This web-based crowd-sourcing platform allows people, companies and philanthropists to give online contributions to specific areas of assistance and projects as displayed on the platform. The project, organized jointly by the ministry and the UN Development Program (UNDP), resulted from the global dialogue forums initiated by Saudi youths.
Ashok Nigam, resident representative of the UNDP in Riyadh, said the project (initiative) proves the capability of youths from different nations, religions and cultures to contribute to global development.
He said the global dialogue forums of Saudi youths have allowed to discuss creative solutions toward development.
Nigam appreciated donations extended by the Kingdom to the project and its concern over sustainable development goals (SDGs) beyond 2015.
A number of ministers, GCC ambassadors in Riyadh as well as ambassadors of countries where dialogue forums were held including India, China, Spain, Brazil, Germany, Tanzania and South Korea attended the event.
