Saudi Arabia hosts Porsche World Roadshow

Porsche enthusiasts from across the Kingdom took part in the ultimate driving event at the Porsche World Roadshow in Saudi Arabia. Hosted by Porsche Saudi Arabia, SAMACO, more than 250 participants were given the opportunity to experience 70 years of the brand’s performance heritage come to life, with a variety of two-door and four-door sports cars.

Taking place at The Track, Jeddah, and at the Nofa Resort in Riyadh, the unrivalled performance and driving dynamics of Porsche’s most diverse model line-up to-date was showcased in a range of scenarios. A dedicated women’s session in both Riyadh and Jeddah offered an opportunity for female participants to advance their track driving skills while experiencing the power, technical innovations and ride comfort of Porsche sports cars. The all-terrain features of the Cayenne and Macan were also showcased on a separate off-road track in both cities, which featured a range of driving scenarios that replicated conditions in which an SUV is required to leave paved roads.

Commenting on the eight-day showcase, Mohammed Raffa, CEO of Porsche Saudi Arabia, SAMACO, said: “Driving a Porsche is a unique experience that has to be felt first-hand, to be believed. By bringing the event to enthusiasts in Riyadh and Jeddah, our aim was to share the pleasure of driving high-performance Porsche models, that are a result of the brand’s 70-year history of manufacturing sports cars. There has never been a better time to bring the Porsche World Road Show to the Kingdom, a decision that we are glad now benefits women drivers as well, by helping them increase both their passion and driving skills.”

A selection of two-door and four-door sports cars from the full Porsche roster were made available for roadshow attendees to drive, this included the iconic 911 range which offered drivers the chance to see why its combination of outstanding performance and everyday usability, continues to inspire generations of sports car fans. Through the 911 GT3, drivers experienced how its design bridges the gap between the track and road with its 500 hp motorsport-inspired engine. The 718 Boxster and Cayman series, developed in homage to the legendary 718 race cars of the past, demonstrated the brand’s racing credentials thanks to their turbocharged flat-four engine ranging from 300 hp for the entry models, to 350 hp for the S variant and up to 365 hp for the GTS derivative.

Attendees also experienced first-hand the sporting credentials of the dynamic Panamera, the manufacture’s stylish saloon offering with compact, lightweight turbo engines and chassis technologies. Porsche’s E-Performance credentials were brought to life through the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, four-door saloon, capable of covering up to 50 kilometres and reaching a maximum speed of 140 km/h in all-electric.

SUV models included the Macan and Cayenne. The top variants in both line-ups driven by participants included the 550 hp Cayenne Turbo and the Macan Turbo with Performance Package, with both models perfectly combining the Porsche philosophy of exceptional driving dynamics with every day practicality. Whether two-door or four-door, Saloon or SUV, the event showcased just why every vehicle in the Porsche roster is, first and foremost, designed as a sports car.

During the programme, Porsche certified instructors guided participants through several driving techniques including braking, handling and slalom, in controlled and safe environments. They were also on-hand to share practical advice with those attending the event; including selecting the correct seating position, handling and maintaining complete control of the car as well as safety tips.

Porsche’s most diverse line-up in its 70-year history is available throughout Porsche Centres in Saudi Arabia.
