PayFort named FinTech of the Year at inaugural Seffy Awards

PAYFORT, an Amazon company, has been named FinTech of the Year at the inaugural edition of the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Awards (Seffy Awards). The award was announced at the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival (SharjahEF), which took place in Sharjah under the patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qassimi, chairperson of Sheraa, the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre.

The Seffys were launched by Sheraa this year to celebrate entrepreneurial achievement in the UAE, awarding nine awards in different categories based on entrepreneurial merit. 

 

According to this year’s Payfort State of Payments report, more than $30 billion of goods and services were purchased online in Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE during 2016, increasing 22 percent over the past two years. The United Arab Emirates is the top country in terms of dollar value and growth in value, with $12.4 billion of transactions and 21 percent annual growth recorded for 2016.
