Aqaba Container Terminal is a model for public-private partnership

Aqaba Port Authority CEO Stephen Yogalingham  stressed the importance of the port which serves the Levant region and the surrounding area as the most distinguished waterfront and regional hub for the multimodal transportation sector. It has the infrastructure to support the Jordanian export and import industry and the Iraqi and Syrian import markets. Has grown considerably when the reconstruction process begins.

Yogalingham said that Aqaba Container Terminal is Iraq's preferred gateway to the Red Sea before conflicts in Syria and Iraq affect the region. He pointed out that since the end of the conflicts and the reopening of the borders of Trebil / Karama, the port has provided Iraqi traders with services through the largest shipping lines in the world Aqaba Containers Large vessels carry up to 15 thousand TEUs This gives the Iraqi trade community the widest choice of shipping lines at competitive prices. He added that the location of Aqaba allows access to Iraq often more than two weeks at the time of import from South America thanks to the effective customs clearance provided by Jordanian Customs and the clearance process before arrival, using procedures that enable the container to reach the border within 36 hours after the descent Aqaba and probably 48 hours to Baghdad.
